The Inspiration
The Inspiration, an a cappella singing group from the University of Pennsylvania, has entertained and educated audiences with the sounds of Black music since 1989. Having ‘brought down the house’ at the 2006 Gesu Block Party, this talented young group is back by popular demand!

Gesu Gospel Choir

Under the direction of H.L. Ratliff, the song of Gesu students in 4th through 8th grade rivals that of the angels. The Gesu Gospel Choir has been honored to perform in a variety of venues, including U.S. Senator Robert Casey Jr.'s inaugural celebration in Washington D.C.

Praise Dancers

Praise dancing is a way of worshipping the Lord and expressing thanks. The graceful movement of Gesu's praise dancers raises their hopes to Heaven and the audience's hearts to a higher plane.

Swing Dance Champs

Inspired by the movie Mad Hot Ballroom and the enthusiasm of trustee Sue Shea, Gesu's students in 5th, 6th, and 7th grade receive regular instruction in Ballroom Dancing. Gesu's top Swing Dancers get the house's feet tapping with their energetic jumps and jiving.

Yes I Can! Yes I Will!

The dramatic performance Yes I Can! Yes I Will! honors courageous African Americans who stood for justice, passing a legacy of hope to our children of today.

Gesu's Rising Stars

Gesu alumni and soon-to-be graduates share their hopes, dreams, and accomplishments. Among the alumni will be Temple University freshman Nia Davis, a Young Playwrights’ Annual Playwriting Festival winner, whose semi-autobiographic play, Poetic Life was recently staged at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre.
