Gesu celebrated the graduation of 46 students on June 9 in North Philadelphia. Students earned more than $424,000 in scholarship and financial aid offers. The Class of 2021 will attend top high schools such as Cristo Rey Philadelphia High School, Friends Select, La Salle College High School, and Malvern Preparatory School. The ceremony featured inspiring addresses by commencement speakers Elana McDonald, MD (left below) and Delana Wardlaw, MD (right below), the Twin Sister Docs. The doctors and nationally recognized community healthcare advocates, who hail from North Philadelphia, encouraged students to be proud of their heritage, try new experiences, and share their greatness. President and CEO Bryan Carter applauded students’ resilience and determination during this challenging year: “Class of 2021, you define grit. You are Gesu strong.”

At the socially distanced ceremony, students received diplomas and awards and scholarships recognizing their accomplishments in academics, service, and civic engagement. To express their gratitude, students offered a class donation to a local food bank and presented roses to their families.

Special thanks to our 8^th Grade Teachers for their leadership and dedication during this challenging year.

Gesu School board members, teachers, and staff celebrated with the Class of 2021. Gesu Chaplain Rev. Raymond Donaldson, S.J., led attendees in prayer and a special blessing over the graduates “for a future of hope.”
